What is Gratuity Hisab?

Gratuity Hisab (گریجویٹی حساب / ग्रेच्युटी हिसाब) is a free set of calculators and plain-language guides for workers in the Gulf states. If you work in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman or Kuwait, this site helps you answer one question with confidence: how much money should I get when my job ends?

Every Gulf country has its own end-of-service rules. The formulas look similar from a distance — they almost always start from your basic salary and your years of service — but the details decide the final figure: which salary counts, how part-years are treated, what happens when you resign, how notice periods work, and what to do when an employer does not pay. Our guides explain each country's system step by step, with worked examples, and our calculators do the arithmetic for you in seconds.

Everything here is free, works in your browser with no sign-up, and is available in four languages: Urdu (اردو), Hindi (हिन्दी), English and Arabic (العربية). Choose your language above to begin.

How gratuity generally works in the Gulf

End-of-service gratuity (known as mukafa'at nihaayat al-khidma in Arabic) is a lump sum your employer owes you when your employment ends. A few principles are common across the region. First, the calculation is almost always based on your basic salary, not your total package — allowances are usually excluded. Second, you generally need a minimum period of continuous service (often one year) before any gratuity is due. Third, part-years count proportionally: six extra months typically count as half a year, not zero. Fourth, the way your job ends matters — resignation, employer termination and dismissal for misconduct can each lead to a different outcome depending on the country.

Beyond gratuity, a final settlement usually includes pay for unused annual leave and any unpaid wages, and most countries set a deadline (often days or weeks) by which the employer must pay everything. If payment does not arrive, every country in the region offers a free path to complain through its labour ministry. Our country guides below walk through each of these topics.

Gratuity by country

United Arab Emirates

The UAE system is built around 21 days of basic salary per year for the first five years and 30 days per year after that, capped at two years' salary. Since 2022, resigning no longer reduces the award. Start with how UAE gratuity is calculated, see worked examples, or read what resigning means for your gratuity.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia's award grows with service: half a month's wage per year for the first five years and a full month per year after that, with resignation fractions (one-third, two-thirds) for shorter service. Key guides: gratuity after 5 years, resigning before 2 years and whether housing allowance counts.

Qatar

Qatar pays three weeks of basic wage per year of service after one continuous year, and resignation does not reduce it. Read worked examples, resignation rules and notice periods.

Oman

Oman updated its labour law in 2023 and will move expatriate workers to a mandatory savings scheme from July 2027. Until then, old and new contracts use different formulas — see which formula applies to you.

Kuwait

Kuwait's notice rules are distinctive: three months' written notice for monthly-paid workers on open-ended contracts. Start with the Kuwait notice period guide.

More than gratuity

Final pay is rarely just gratuity. Use the overtime calculator to check extra hours, the service length calculator to count your exact service, and the currency converter to see what your settlement is worth back home in PKR or INR. If your employer is not paying, our complaint guides for the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar explain exactly what to do, step by step.
