مكافأة البحرين: أسئلة شائعة
Plain answers to the questions workers in Oman ask most, with worked examples.
Oman is in transition. Under the August 2026 Ministry of Labour clarification, which gratuity formula applies depends on when your contract was concluded: contracts from before 31 July 2023 earn 15 days' basic salary for each of the first three years and a full month per year after, while newer contracts earn at least a month's basic salary for every year. And from 19 July 2027, private-sector expatriates move to a mandatory savings scheme — 9% of basic salary paid monthly into the Social Protection Fund — instead of traditional gratuity.
Day-to-day rights are straightforward: 30 days' written notice for monthly-paid workers (15 days for others, 7 during probation), plus 10 paid hours a week during notice to look for a new job. Overtime pays 125% by day and 150% at night (9 pm–5 am), with extra for rest days. An ordinary resignation with notice served does not reduce gratuity; only dismissal for serious misconduct does.
Read the guides below for the questions Oman workers ask most, and estimate your amount with the free Oman gratuity calculator.
Oman workers whose contracts predate July 2023 should first read which formula applies to them, then check what the 2027 savings scheme means for their future contributions. If you are resigning, the resignation guide and the notice guide together cover everything from the resignation letter to the 10 paid job-search hours a week.
